Pros and cons of Memphis Chess Club app for iPhone and iPad

Memphis Chess Club app good for

A nice selection of easy to interesting problems. Quick and fun!
I especially like the problems where you have to find the checkmate in three or four moves ahead. It gives me much needed practice in visualizing what the board will look like depending on which decision I make

Some bad moments

This is an amazing look into crafty moves that made me think and scratch my head like no other book, app, or online lesson on the topic of chess. Thank you!
Good interface, plenty of puzzles...some options are vague though and some puzzles have been proven unsolvable with modern computers. Still, overall this is a good way to practice mating patterns on the go.
I do a lot of tactics training on various websites and one specific app. These tactics are superior without question! The other tactics are usually computer generated. If you look at those other tactical puzzles youll realize that you are being trained on tactics that you will almost never use because the average player who needs a tactic trainer to move up the class D and C levels wont be playing opponents who put themselves in such positions. Kudos to the Memphis CC for all the work it took to record, compile, and produce the material so this book and app could be created! :-) Keep em coming!!
I challenge myself to get it right on the first try - to think as if Im really playing.
I like these much better than composed problems, as these are based on actual games. There are some, however, which, after Ive given up, the iPhone is unable to solve and displays a message to that effect, and when I play through the text solution, the problem makes no sense - lots of unforced moves and plenty of ways to avoid mate within the given number of moves. Other than that, this, together with the other set of puzzles from MCC, is great. Im up to about 60% success with mate in six, which seemed impossible when I started. Many hours of enjoyment, highly recommended!
Fun to have when youre waiting for chess with friends opponents to move!
